It’s a new year and a fresh start for businesses everywhere. That means it’s also a good time to make some resolutions to improve your business’ sales performance and actually stick to them. Read on here for 5 resolutions we can’t encourage enough.

Invest some time in online education

When was the last time you really took some time to improve your Internet skills? Too long ago? Then make the saying “New Year, New You” true by putting some time aside to develop your online expertise.

A great place to start could be with one of Google’s “Power Searching” courses. The search engine giant offers free online video courses to help you make the most of the little tricks and codes that make the search engine more useful than most people probably even know. Courses for other Internet skills, from SEO to URL manipulation, can also be found online and will give you an advantage over everybody not investing the time.

Microsoft Word and Excel don’t count as IT skills so get learning and become and Internet genius!

Start those difficult but necessary conversations

Have you been putting off an overdue conversation about your business’ long-term plan? Well, there’s no time like January to finally have that chat. Your excuses of December being a busy month are gone so get thinking about your business.

That latest mobile app that everybody is talking about but that you think would be too difficult to use? Get it downloaded!

Make 2014 the year when you finally make the most of apps. They can be among your most useful tools and too many salespeople are still afraid to use them or simply can’t be bothered downloading them. With so many apps out there that can help both your professional and personal life, it really is worth taking the time to look through the most popular ones and get using the ones that could help you.

Treating your smartphone to a bigger memory card is also worth it so that phone memory can’t become an excuse for avoiding downloading apps.

Show your facebook fans some love

Many of us make resolutions to keep in touch with friends and family better and it should be exactly the same with your social media followers. If your fans took the time to like your page — the ultimate online nod of approval — then it’s your duty to be putting out regular and rewarding content.

How often you post will depend on what you’ve been doing on social media in 2014 and on how many fans you have, but daily posts are a goal to at least begin working towards.

Giving some more of your attention to Twitter and LinkedIn as well is also a good resolution to have for 2015.
